Goldilocks Cake Decorating Contest 2015

Future pastry chefs shine at Goldilocks' 9th Intercollegiate Cake Decorating Challenge (ICDC) last March 7, 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia.

Out of countless schools who submitted entries, six (6) finalists were chosen: Far Eastern University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Pangasinan State Uniersity, St. Anne College of Lucena, Western Institute of Technology Iloilo and Gabriel Taborin College of Davao.

A new twist on the mechanics awaited the contestants for this season. In five hours or less, a group of four per team were expected to decorate a debut inspired cake (using whipped creme) and a wedding cake (using fondant). Sharing one central supply bin, they have access to a full array of decorative materials (sprinkles, candies, toppers and dyes) with Avoset Pour N Whip as their base ingredient. Having no prior knowledge on the cake theme nor decorating parameters, it was up to the team's imagination and talent to best out their competitors.

"The growing success of the Goldilocks Cake Expo and the Intercollegiate Cake Decorating Challenge is so inspiring. As cake and pastry arts gain more acceptance and prominence in the country, you can be sure that Goldilocks will continue to do its part in promoting these disciplines at the student-level." - Cherry Caluya, Marketing Director of Goldilocks

I felt proud with the cake I decorated at home last November, but it was nowhere near the ones showcased in this competition. Haha! Nonetheless we all had fun doing it! Goodluck on your future endeavors participants and congratulations to Goldilocks for another successful event! :)

P.S. - Thanks to Sir Alwin of The City Roamer for graciously sharing some of his photos :)
